Location

Adaro’s Agreement Area is in the central part of South Kalimantan Province. The Trans-Kalimantan Highway passes through the area connecting Banjarmasin, the provincial capital, in the south to Balikpapan, a major oil production and refining centre in East Kalimantan, in the north. The road distance from both Banjarmasin and Balikpapan to Tanjung is approximately 230 kms.

The Agreement Area covers an area of 36,000 hectares and lies fifteen kilometers due east of the provincial town of Tanjung.

Three coal resources have been delineated within this area: Paringin, Tutupan, Wara. Tutupan is currently the focus for the mining operations with limited production from Paringin. Production from the Wara deposit is scheduled to commence in the second half of 2009.
